October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. During October, WTLC will engage our community in ending violence through education, awareness, and a call to action to all members of the community. Intimate partner violence is not bound by age, socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or nationality; it exists in all communities. Whether or not we experience violence in our own lives, it is imperative that we as individuals in our community support survivors of violence, honor the lives of those no longer with us due to violence, and seek to prevent future violence through actively promoting safe and healthy families and communities.
Our collaboration with partnering agencies and community members allows us to provide the care and resources our survivors need to overcome and restart their lives. This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we ask all individuals to empower themselves by speaking out and getting involved in ending the cycle of violence. Join us in this movement and use your voice as we break the silence of domestic violence. Follow us on social media all month long to learn more and speak up using #MyVoiceMatters.
