Domestic Violence Awareness Month

1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have
experienced intimate partner violence
in their lifetime.

But we don’t have to stand back and watch from the sidelines. Use your voice this October and break the silence by standing with us during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Here are 3 ways you can get involved:

1. Join us for DVAM Events all throughout the month of October

During this time of social distancing, this Domestic Violence Awareness Month presents a unique opportunity to show survivors that you care for their stories and voice! Check out our DVAM events calendar and be sure to join us for a few (or all) events that will be sure to be a great time for you, your friends, and family.

2. Engage in Community Conversations – #MyVoiceMatters

Did you know that domestic violence is the third leading cause of homelessness among families?  According to the Nonprofit Partnership, 7 million children live in families in which severe partner violence occurred and more than 3 million children witness domestic violence in their homes every year. Help survivors get their voices–and lives–back by becoming a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. During the month of October, we have panels, interactive workshops, and real stories from survivors that will give you a deeper look into the lives of survivors and how you can be a voice for change.

Community Conversations Topics

October 1: How Domestic Violence Impacts Our Community: Discussion with Radiant Futures Advocates
October 5: The Importance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October 8: How Domestic Violence Impacts the Community (Spanish)
October 12: Healthy Relationships Workshop (Spanish)

3. Give Up Your Cup for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Radiant Futures is challenging you this Domestic Violence Awareness Month to give up your coffee, tea or other “cup” for one day, one week, one month or anything in between, then donate what you would have spent to Radiant Futures. We’re looking for 50 individuals that will commit to donating a “cup” or $5 a month or more on a monthly basis to make sure support to survivors goes beyond Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

You can also help to raise funds and spread awareness by sharing our goal to get 50 individuals to commit $5 a month or more with with friends and family through email and social media. Be sure to use #MyVoiceMatters
